While there's still a few weeks left of summer, you're probably trying to think of something fun to do with your family to finish off the season. A nice, little road trip can be fun, but why not stay local and check out the Festival of the Little Hills? This festival has been voted Best Local Event by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for the last two years, so you'll want to be sure to at least check it out this year.

Festival of the Little Hills Event Details

This festival is a three day event, spanning from August 18th until August 20th. On Friday, August 18th, the event kicks off at 4:00 p.m. and goes until 10:00 p.m. However, Saturday, August 19th is the big day because the event opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 10:00 p.m. On Sunday, the last day of the festival, the event also opens at 9:30 a.m. but it finishes at 5:00 p.m. This three-day event will take place at Frontier Park in St. Charles. Pets won't be allowed at the festival, but they're permitted on Katy Trail.

What to Expect at the Festival of the Little Hills

There will be plenty to do at Frontier Park during the Festival of the Little Hills. The event will feature live entertainment on the Main Stage at Riverside and 1st Capitol. Friday will kick off with Seth Brand at 5:00 p.m. and A.D.D. at 6:30 p.m. Saturday will feature a variety of performances starting at 10:00 a.m. with the Municipal Concert Band followed by Gateway Jazz, King Benny, and Gypsy Lion. At 4:00 p.m., Catfish Willie will perform and Accolade will close out the evening's performances from 6:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

Sunday, the final day of the festival, will feature a few performances throughout the afternoon. The Municipal Jazz Band will have their second performance of the festival at noon. The 4th Street Band will follow at 1:45 p.m., while Borderline will end the festival with a performance from 3:15 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. 

On top of the many musical performances, there will be fun for the whole family. There will be plenty of games, as well as a kid's corner for the little ones. This year's festival will also feature more than 300 different booths. Local artisans will sell their crafts, as well as hold demonstrations of their processes. There will also be many local vendors serving up classic flavors from around the St. Charles area. The beer garden will serve up local brews for you to try as you make your way around the festival.
