The holiday season is rapidly approaching, so you have a lot to do before Christmas. You need to decorate your home, get the perfect tree, and go shopping. However, you also need to take the little ones to meet St. Nick himself, Santa Claus.
Don't worry, though, because you'll have plenty of opportunities to let your little ones tell Santa what they want this year. And we're going to let you know when and where to meet him in St. Charles.
St. Charles Christmas Traditions
St. Charles Christmas Traditions is a month-long event that runs from Black Friday through Christmas Eve and has brought holiday spirit and Christmas cheer to historic St. Charles for more than 40 years. It's your chance to admire the beautiful decorations in historic St. Charles and interact with holiday characters like the Sugar Plum Fairy, Ebenezer Scrooge, and Santa's little helpers.
Seeing & Meeting Santa Claus
Of course, we're here to talk about Santa and all the different times and places that you can meet him. You can catch a glimpse of Santa during the parades. Every Saturday and Sunday during the festival, you can wave at Santa as he makes his way from South Main Street to First Capitol Drive.
Your children can write their Christmas list to send to Santa Claus. Have them write down their list them take them to the Old Post Office on South Main Street. There will be a big red mailbox where your kids can drop their letters that will then make their way to the North Pole.
You can even have breakfast with Santa on Saturdays and Sundays at the Garden Café a la Fleur. Get up close and personal with Kris Kringle with a buffet-style breakfast. Enjoy the first meal of the day while your little ones become acquainted with Father Christmas.
Your children can even enter to win a ride with Santa during the parades. This contest awards a chosen child on each parade day by letting them ride with Santa and Mrs. Claus in a horse-drawn carriage. This contest goes from November 25 to December 18, so your child has multiple opportunities to catch a ride with St. Nick.
Other Christmas Events at the Festival
There's a wide variety of attractions and events during St. Charles Christmas Traditions that you and your family will have time to check out. You can take a tour of the Gingerbread Village and admire the work from local St. Charles residents.
You can also stop by Santa's Cottage and Train Land. Your children will get to see what goes on at the North Pole with Santa and his elves. They can even get their picture taken with Santa so they can remember their visit with him for years to come.
Now that you know where Santa will be throughout the festival, you can take your children to give him their lists and take a picture. After all, Christmas wouldn't be complete without a visit with Santa Claus.
