When you're the proud owner of the Nissan Titan, you're probably satisfied with this truck's impressive abilities. However, as the owner, it's important to be aware of the Nissan Titan dashboard symbols that can appear while you're getting work done around the St. Charles, St. Louis, and O'Fallon area. Knowing what the symbol means will be very helpful.

Our team at St. Charles Nissan is going to give you a closer look at these dashboard symbols. We'll show you the difference between indicator symbols and warning symbols. We'll even let you know what it means when they appear, and what you should do to prevent any damage to your Nissan Titan.  If you have any more questions, feel free to contact us any time.

The Difference Between Indicator Symbols & Warning Symbols

There are a variety of different lights and symbols that can appear on your dashboard. In fact, they all light up when you first start your vehicle, but they soon go away after a few seconds. Indicator symbols are letting you know of a vehicle system that was automatically activated or turned on by you.

Warning symbols, on the other hand, are letting you know there's a malfunction that requires your immediate attention. If you see one of these, schedule an appointment at our service center today.

Nissan Titan Indicator Symbols

  • High Beam Indicator. This symbol will appear on your dashboard when you activate your high beams to remind you that the lights are on. Once you deactivate your high beams, this symbol will disappear.
  • Slip Indicator. When this symbol lights up, it means that your vehicle has experienced a loss of traction and the Vehicle Dynamic Control system has activated to help your vehicle regain control.
  • Tow Mode ON. If you're getting ready to town and you've adjusted the drive mode, this symbol will stay on until you resume normal driving.
  • Turn Signal/Hazard Light Indicator. By activating your turn signal or hazard lights, this symbol will flash. If it's a turn signal, the symbol will disappear after successfully making the turn. However, the hazard lights will stay on until you deactivate them.

Nissan Titan Warning Symbols

  • Automatic Transmission Oil Warning. This symbol is warning you that the oil temperature in your transmission is too hot. It's recommended that you reduce your speed and find a safe place to pull over and let the oil cool.
  • Brake Warning. This symbol has two meanings. It will appear if you've accidently left your parking brake engaged or if your braking system is low on fluid. If it's the latter, pull over to safety and contact your Nissan dealer.
  • Charge Warning. If you see this symbol appear, it means that your battery isn't charging due to a loose or broken generator belt. It's recommended that you pull over, turn off the engine, and check the status of the belt. If the belt is broken, contact your Nissan dealer right away.
  • Engine Oil Pressure Warning. When this symbol comes on, you should immediately pull over to safety and contact your Nissan dealer. It's not recommended that you try to continue driving if the symbol stays on.

If you notice any of these Nissan Titan dashboard symbols appear, especially the warning symbols, you can always visit us at St. Charles Nissan for assistance.
