2018 Nissan Pathfinder
With the 2017 year bringing significant upgrades to the table, there are only a few tweaks and updates to the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. One update that's definitely of note, however, is that you get Automatic Emergency Braking as a standard feature, starting with the entry level trim.
In addition, this year adds a back-seat reminder system, Adaptive Cruise Control, and extra USB ports for device charging, as well as an expansion of which levels can add the Midnight Edition package.
Technology, Options, and Trim Levels
There are four basic trim levels for this 7-passenger crossover. The base trim is the S level, with the SV and SL forming the mid-level trims, and the Platinum topping the line.
At the basic level, you get the Tri-Zone Automatic Temperature Control System, keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera, Automatic Emergency Braking, and an infotainment system that features Bluetooth®, six speakers, a CD player, and HD Radio™. Plus, you also receive satellite radio, dual USB ports, two extra USB charge ports, and an 8-inch touchscreen interface.
At higher levels, you get extra features, like fog lights, automatic headlights, rear parking sensors, power heated and ventilated seats, and auto-dim mirrors. With the GPS navigation, system, too, you'll never have to worry about being lost. As if those features weren't enough, you also get LED headlights, a 360-degree parking camera, an upgraded audio system with 13 speakers by Bose®, and a back seat entertainment system (option at Platinum level only).
Safety
With the complete list of safety features available on the Nissan Pathfinder, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Warning, the 2018 Pathfinder got a 5-Star Overall Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for safety. Numbers aren't available yet from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but the 2017 model earned a TOP SAFETY PICK from the IIHS, and the new model has only improved.
Driving and Comfort
With the upgraded suspension and steering the 2018 Pathfinder got last year, the vehicle feels very controlled and stable, even when the road seems rough. This is an SUV that does a great job smoothing out bumps and jars on the road. It's also very quiet in the cabin and the materials are well-designed and smooth. A great deal of focus has been spent on comfort and it shows, with supportive and roomy seats, tons of space in the second row, and lots of cargo space.
