It could be argued that the Nissan Maxima and the Honda Accord have more differences than they do similarities, and yet, they do exist in exactly the same class and it's not surprising that many drivers across the St. Louis and Saint Peters area, including O'Fallon and St. Charles, are curious as to which one is the better performing sedan in a variety of areas.

Both are great performing vehicles, but in the end, the Honda Accord is a much more entry-level vehicle, while the Maxima is a luxury performance sedan that will get you where you need to go in real style. Discover which mid-sized sedan wins out in a head-on battle of the new 2018 Nissan Maxima vs. the latest model of Honda Accord, and where to drive the winner.

2018 Nissan Maxima vs. Honda Accord

Starting with what's new this year, the 2018 Nissan Maxima gives you Android Auto as a standard base feature, standard front collision warning and mitigation with emergency automatic braking. The Accord, on the other hand, arrives with an all new redesign this year, which could be a point in its favor, except that it's still not up to snuff against the Maxima.

It starts with performance, where the Turbo inline 4 of the Accord gets a respectable 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet in torque. The Maxima, however, is driven by a 3.5-liter V6 engine which gives you 300 horsepower and 261 pound-feet. Even the upgraded 2.0-liter 4-cylinder on the Accord only delivers 252 horsepower, nowhere near what you get on the Maxima, and you'll need to step up several trim levels to get it.

Interior Creature Comforts

The Honda Accord delivers a solid set of comfort features for a car in its class, including a 12-way power adjust driver's seat with 2-position driver memory settings, and heated front seats. Compare that, however, to the Ascot Leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel and zero-gravity climate controlled front seats in the Maxima, which are also power adjustable, and the Maxima starts to pull ahead, especially when you consider that to get the power driver seat on the Accord, you'll need to step up a level, while the Maxima's is standard..

Technology and Infotainment

The base features on the new Accord also include an infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, four speakers and USB port. The infotainment interface is a big step up from the last generation, and uses buttons and dials to maneuver along with the touchscreen.

Still, the Maxima's interface is even better. The Maxima gives you 8-inch touchscreen, GPS navigation, dual USB ports, Android and Apple smartphone integration, 8 speakers, CD, and Satellite radio all right at the base entry level. The interface is crisp, attractive, and among the most user friendly on the market. There's no comparison, and even review site Edmunds.com calls the Maxima's technology interface, a home run.
